Orange Slice Therapy was founded on that premise. In many Asian cultures, sliced fruit represents hospitality, respect, wellness, good health, and most importantly to us, love. In our households, love was often shown through actions rather than words, perhaps yours was the same. Whether it was a hot summers day, after a long day at school, or as a sweet treat after dinner, perfectly sliced fruit was always there, a simple yet meaningful gesture of our family’s love.
Now we ask you: what are some simple yet meaningful gestures you can do to show yourself love? Asian Americans have one of the lowest rates of mental health service use. Many of our cultural hardships have been dismissed throughout history, contributing to a lack of representation for Asian Americans in the mental health sphere. We are dedicated to bridging that gap through the celebration of Asian culture and integrating it in our work together as your therapist. Representation matters, sometimes its easier to talk to someone from a similar background, someone who “gets it.” There’s nothing wrong with that.
