Our Story
“Sliced Fruit Taste Like Love.” A simple yet meaningful gesture
Orange Slice Therapy was founded on that premise. We believe in the power of small, meaningful gestures to foster emotional wellness and self-love. In Asian cultures, offering sliced fruit is a timeless gesture that conveys deep care and affection. It represents hospitality, respect, wellness, good health, and most importantly to us, love. In our households, love was often shown through actions rather than words, perhaps yours was the same. Whether it was a hot summers day, after a long day at school, or as a sweet treat after dinner, perfectly sliced fruit was always there, a simple yet meaningful gesture of our family’s love.
Emotional Healing Through Everyday Acts of Kindness
Now we ask you: what are some simple yet meaningful gestures you can do to show yourself love? Is it reaching out to a friend for a heartfelt conversation, treating yourself to your favorite meal, or finally posting that picture you’ve been self-conscious about? Or perhaps it’s taking the time to figure out what ‘love’ means to you. If you’re unsure how to answer that question, that’s okay—you are not alone. Our goal is to embody the warmth and care symbolized by sliced fruit, helping you overcome what’s troubling you and guiding you toward showing yourself the love you deserve. If you are ready to embark your journey on self-discovery and love then we encourage you to reach out today.
Our Hope
Bridging the Gap in Mental Health Support for Asian Americans
Asian Americans have some of the lowest rates of mental health service use in the United States. A history of cultural hardships and stigma surrounding mental health has led to a lack of representation for Asian Americans in the mental health field. At our practice, we are dedicated to bridging that gap by celebrating and integrating Asian culture into the work we do together.
The Importance of Representation in Mental Health Care
Representation matters. Sometimes, it's easier to speak with someone who shares a similar background—someone who “gets it.” We understand the unique challenges you may face, and we’re here to listen without judgment. There’s no shame in seeking therapy from someone who understands where you're coming from. We believe that cultural understanding and shared experiences are integral to creating an effective therapeutic relationship.
Overcoming Cultural Hardships in Therapy
Asian American communities have faced significant barriers when it comes to accessing mental health services. From cultural stigma to language barriers and historical neglect, these challenges often prevent many from seeking help. We are committed to breaking these barriers by providing therapy that is culturally competent and respectful, ensuring that every person feels heard, understood, and supported.
Celebrating All Cultures – Welcoming Diverse Backgrounds
While our focus is on serving the Asian American community, we believe that all cultures should be celebrated and honored. We warmly welcome clients from all racial, ethnic, gender, and social backgrounds. Your voice matters, and your story deserves to be heard. At our practice, you will find a safe, inclusive environment where we honor and celebrate the diversity of human experiences.
